Environmental Web sites and Newsletters

This file contains several useful and informative resources found on the World Wide Web. Many sites offer daily or weekly newsletters of environmental headlines and stories.  All services are free of charge, except where noted.  Most cover all environmental topics, while some are issue-specific.  For ease of use, each entry contains a short description and a direct hyperlink to the site.

The Environmental News Network web site is an online destination where users are able to access daily content on environmental issues and interact with others having similar interests.  Free daily news delivered directly to your e-mail box.  Bringing you the latest environmental news in HTML or text only formats.  Easy to use search feature to access current and archived stories, daily coverage of events, related story links on the topics of interest, news from reputable sources such as ENN, AP, Reuters, Knight-Ridder Tribune and more. 

The Environment News Service (ENS) is the original daily international wire service of the environment. Established in 1990, it is independently owned and operated, and is not affiliated with any business, industry, government or environmental group.  The Environment News Service (ENS) exists to present late-breaking environmental news in a fair and balanced manner.

Environmental Data Interactive Exchange Edie is a free, personalized, interactive news, information and communications service for environmental professionals around the world. With comprehensive independent coverage, powerful search facilities, e-mail alerts and discussion forums, edie provides a one-stop-shop for the exchange of environmental information on the Web.

Rachel's Weekly provides timely information on toxic substances and other environmental hazards. The newsletter covers many technical issues, such as the toxicity of dioxin, incinerator emissions, rising cancer rates, and the intricacies of risk assessment.
