The Pacific Basin Information Node (PBIN) is a gateway to natural resource data and information pertaining to the region. This NBII site is developed and maintained by the Center for Biological Informatics of the U.S. Geological Survey

The University of the South Pacific is a regional University owned and financed by twelve governments - Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu. Our mandate, council work programmes and functions are decided by these countries and we respond to the needs of the people of the region. We currently have almost 6,000 fulltime students and a very large distance education students. We have both graduate and undergraduate programmes and also have a large continuing education programme. We also have a longstanding exchange programme with a number of universities in the United States.
